ista is one of the world’s leading companies providing energy management services for greater energy efficiency in buildings – especially in apartment buildings and commercial properties.
The history of the company can be traced back to 1902 and the foundation of Clorius and ista, the Danish and German pioneers of consumption-based billing of energy and water.
Over the years, the company expanded and is today represented in 25 countries in Europe, and beyond. ista currently employs over 5,300 people and its sales in 2016 were over € 850.4 million.
Business Challenge
ista first approached us at the end of 2015 with the intention to further strengthen its position solutions for property management in Europe. The company was looking for a partner who would deliver a web portal for the analysis of utility consumption data for property managers. The portal needed to be user-friendly, had to integrate with other systems and had to have an ability to run detailed reports.
Future Processing’s Role
Our role was to create the bespoke solution from scratch. We started off with the Analysis & Design and a UX consultation, and proceeded with development with constant input from UX colleagues.
The ista Property Manager Portal (iPMP) was rolled out to Italy in January 2017 and it will shortly go live in other countries as well.
Benefits to ista
ista now has a corporate solution which has been custom built and therefore perfectly meets the needs of their target market.
The iPMP we created is a web portal that allows users for detailed reporting of utilities used in buildings they oversee. Beyond a standard reporting of usage, users can now also monitor trends over time and compare levels of utility use between different apartments, or following structural changes to the building. This allows for better control of usage and for a reduction of losses which supports the green attitude of ista towards the environment.
Future of our cooperation
Following the roll out to other countries, the cooperation will most likely continue with Future Processing providing third line of support for the portal.

We chose Future Processing as development partner for a Java-based project that helps property managers to manage real estate effectively.
